Texas Heritage Parkway Now Open
Get ready to move. The Texas Heritage Parkway is now open bringing increased mobility and faster commute times to North Fort Bend County residents, including those in Jordan Ranch.
The 6.4-mile project is a north/south thoroughfare from FM 1093 (Westpark Tollway) to Interstate 10 at the Pederson Road exit. The road has two lanes in either direction separated by a median. A 10-foot-wide trail system runs alongside the parkway making the road safer for cyclists and pedestrians.
Texas Heritage Parkway was the result of a public/private partnership coming together to find a way to reduce traffic congestion. The $55 million dollar price tag was split between private landowners, Fort Bend County, and the cities of Fulshear and Katy. The land for the project was also donated by the local landowners.
While most of the road is open, the portion that is located in Waller County at Pederson Road on Interstate 10 has not yet been expanded. Drivers will have access to I-10, but the road will go down from four lanes to two at Kingsland. Commuters are advised to consult traffic apps during peak traffic hours if they will be traveling up to the Waller County portion of the road.
We are excited to see this project come to fruition. Our residents will now be able to zip on down the highway. Will you be one of them?
